100 AI Music Video Prompts (Free Library)
100 ready to use AI music video prompts across genres: synthwave, lo-fi, cinematic, abstract, narrative. Copy, paste, ship without the slop.
Kevin Gabeci
This is a library. Not a tutorial. Most prompt collections online are either three prompts wrapped in a thousand words of setup, or a wall of one-line mood boards that don’t actually work in a video model. This piece is neither. It’s one hundred AI music video prompts, organized by genre, written in the same grammar (shot type, framing, lens, lighting, motion, mood) so they all execute cleanly across Runway, Pika, and Luma in 2026.
The genres are the five that show up most often in actual music video work: synthwave, lo-fi, cinematic, abstract, narrative. Twenty prompts each. The point is not that you will use all of them. The point is that you will find five or six that fit the song you are scoring this week, raid the rest for grammar, and have something to come back to when the next song shows up.
Two notes before the list. First, these prompts are templates, not scripts. If a synthwave prompt names a Lamborghini and your song needs a motorcycle, swap the noun. The lighting, the lens, the camera move, and the mood are the part that’s load-bearing. The specific subject is not. Second, these prompts are designed to be copied into a global-style-plus-per-scene workflow, where the broad world description (palette, time of day, lens family) is repeated in every prompt and the per-scene part is the variable. If your tool does not support that pattern, just paste the whole prompt and the model will figure it out.
For deeper dives on each genre, see synthwave AI video prompts, lo-fi AI video prompts, and cinematic AI music video prompts. For the underlying writing grammar, how to write prompts for AI music video is the foundation.

How to adapt these
Treat the library as a starting point, not a deliverable. The prompts that fit your specific song will need three kinds of adaptation. First, the world. Replace the noun (Lamborghini, café table, beach) with whatever your song’s world contains. Keep the lighting, lens, and motion. Second, the palette. If your song is warm, swap any cool lighting cues for warm ones across the prompts you choose. Third, the pacing. If your song moves fast, drop the prompt clip lengths from eight seconds to five. If it moves slow, extend them.
The single most useful exercise after you copy a prompt is to read it out loud and ask: where is the light coming from. If the prompt does not say, add it. Light direction is the variable that does the most work in distinguishing a generated frame from a generic one. Once the light is named, the rest of the prompt has somewhere to live.
A second exercise. After you assemble five or six prompts for a song, read them back as a sequence. Do they share a palette, a time of day, a lens family? If two of them break the world, cut one of them. Continuity is more important than variety in a music video. The viewer is not watching for novelty per shot. They are watching for the song to feel like one place.
If you want to take any of these prompts from text to a finished render, open Melodex, drop your audio in, and feed the prompts in scene by scene. The library above is yours. Build on it, raid it, ship.
Frequently asked questions
- Can I use these prompts as is?
- Yes. Copy any of them into your video model of choice and they will produce a usable result. They are also written to be adapted, so swap nouns and lighting freely.
- Which video models do these target?
- Runway, Pika, and Luma in 2026. The grammar (shot, lens, light, motion, mood) transfers cleanly across all three. Minor model-specific tuning may help but is not required.
- How long should the resulting clip be?
- Five to eight seconds for cinematic and narrative, six to ten seconds for lo-fi and abstract, four to six seconds for synthwave chase scenes. Plan cuts on the beat.
- Are these prompts copyrightable?
- No. Prompts are instructions, not creative works in the protectable sense. Use them, build on them, share your adaptations.
- How many of these do I need for a full video?
- Six to ten distinct prompts is enough for a three minute song if you reuse variations and crossfade. More than fifteen prompts in one video is usually too many.
- Should I prompt in English even if my song is in another language?
- Yes. The video models in 2026 are most fluent in English. Prompt in English, score whatever language you sing in.
- Will these still work in 2027 models?
- Yes. The grammar (shot, lens, light, motion, mood) is cinematographic and timeless. Newer models will execute the prompts better, not differently.
